From the workspace

Scanning from the workspace lets you add your scan to the currently opened notebook.

  1. Tap the Plus icon (top right corner) > Document Scan.
  2. You can:
    • Change how the scan looks: Color, Grayscale, Black & White and Photo.
    • Auto scan or do it manually
    • Adjust the edges of the scan
    • Retake
  3. Keep Scan you’re satisfied with.
  4. Save your scan to import as PDF or Image.

PDF vs Image

PDFs create pages of the scans. If you want to annotate the scans, this is the best way to save them. Images are smaller and superimposed on the pages in the notebook. They behave like any image in Notability. For both scans, the app has OCR technology that lets you search your scans (like it searches through handwriting and text in the app).
